INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE MAILABLE FILLERS To help reduce paper usage, CLC has moved to an electronic method of recording information. Both the Employment Application and the Teacher Preference / Qualification Forms you're about to submit are what are known as "mailable fillers." That means all you need to do is download them to your computer, fill in the information, save the filled-in version, and then e-mail the files back to us. You won't even need to print them out for your records since you'll have an electronic copy. It's really very easy, but there are several things you should know before you begin: Both files are in .exe (executable) format and may be intercepted by anti-virus software on your system; especially if you have a firewall. If that's the case, you may prefer to download the HTML versions of the forms, which will open automatically in your browser. You don't need any special software to run either verson. You will be asked if you want to download the forms or open them from their current location, and you can choose whichever method is more convenient for you. (Downloading will allow you to save the form(s) and fill it/them out at your leisure, whereas "opening from location" will open them immediately. If you choose the latter, however, you will still be required to save the file to a disk, as indicated in the instructions below. To access the files, click on the links provided below and download the forms either to your hard drive or to a CD or floppy, saving them with whatever names you wish. When you're ready to begin, call up the files and fill out the forms, just as you would if they were paper versions. There's even a "shrink to fit" feature if you exceed the allotted space, although we would prefer that you to try to keep your answers to a reasonable length. Both forms contain three separate pages; make sure you fill out all three of them before sending them back. You can easily move between the pages in one of two ways: Under the "View" menu at the top, click on "Go To Page;" or Use the numbered page icons on the toolbar at the bottom. The page you are on will appear in black -- the others will be in white.
Once you're through, use the "Save As" function to save the files with new names (such as "Mary Smith Application") so you don't overwrite the originals. E-mail the forms back to CLC as attachments to your note. You can zip them if you want to, but it's not a requirement.
One last note -- the files are large (about 700K each). They will take a bit of time to download and to send (up to five minutes, if you're using dialup).
